December Mission Trip 09/30/2011
This years short-term mission trip to India leaves on Christmas Day. That’s right, Christmas Day. Why not, Jesus started His mission trip on Christmas Day. (Whatever date that was) Here are our team members: Vern, Donna & Darian Eswine, Garry, Abigail and Elizabeth Collins and Tom and Charlotte Franklin. We will hold conferences (VBS, Men’s Women’s and combined sessions) in three different locations in Kerala. Usually we hold one large meeting of 500 people, but this will cut down on those families travel and will allow for more people to attend with the conference in their area. We return on January 6/7 with a chance to worship with believers in the Arab city of Dubai. Please consider giving a donation to help pay for this trip.

![]() That sounds like such a heretical statement to make. How can Satan stop a child of God on a mission for God? I Thessalonians 2:18 says, “For we wanted to come to you, certainly I, Paul did, again and again but Satan stopped us.” Can we say that the Apostle Paul failed in his faith? I don’t think so. I believe that the reality is that we are in a war; we have a real enemy who has real power. Since our last newsletter New Life Christian Mission has had some roadblocks. (Satan stopped us) 1. Western Union stopped our September support payment based on rules it has with India. This caused a lot of anxiety for Philip and Lyju because of how low key the work of Christ needs to be in India. It also caused a delay in the small, butnecessary, salary we pay the pastors. We eventually, after a week, were able to get the support to India. 2. We have been trying to bring Lyju Cherian to the U.S. to visit supporting churches and to take classes at Cincinnati Christian Seminary. Lyju is the primary teacher for our Bible Institute in India, as well as being the bright future of leadership for the mission. Lyju has been rejected twice for a Visa to come to America. We applied again on September 14th with the help of a congressman. Rejected again! (Satan stopped us.) However, we are not surprised. We are at war and in war you fight. We are appealing the Consulate's decision, so please say a prayer. If and when Lyju comes to America, will you have him speak at your church? Thank you for your support and encouragement. New Training School Inaugurated in August ![]() NLCM desires to be a tool in God’s hands to reach many parts of India. Our desire is to develop our pastors to better teach the Bible and be effective leaders. We also want to train pastors in our outlying states as well as young men and women who want to serve God in various ministries. Because of this goal we started a new school in the thriving city of Cochin (2 million). Lyju and Philip are giving instruction. Also available to teach are experienced visiting teachers such as professors at Lyju’s seminary in Banglore. Occasionally teachers from America can go and teach 1 week seminars. We are making disciples just as Jesus instructed. New Trip to India - March 11-21 02/18/2011
Scott Denison, Gary Hollan and myself (Tom Franklin) will be going to India March 11 - 21. The nature of the trip is to visit some of our more remote churches. We will be going to the Northern State of Bihar (near the Nepal border). Paul Varghese pastors a small church of believers there, 16 to 17 people. Bihar has been dubbed "The Graveyard of Missionaries." Opposition to Christianity is very strong. We will also travel to the State of Orissa where persecution cost the lives of over 200 believers about two years ago. We have 3 churches and an orphanage in Orissa that we will visit. We will conclude our 10 days by visiting and teaching our Pastors in Kerala in the South. Pray for God to help us and bless our efforts. | |||||
