Thank you for visiting the New Life Christian Mission-India website.
Our goal is to please the One who gave us eternal life and who then commanded us to “Go into all the world and make disciples.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
NLCM was a “God Thing,” (To use a cliché)
In 1980 a couple from Jamestown, Indiana, Jim and Kitty MacKinnon, felt led by God to visit an orphanage in Southern India. From those initial contacts by the MacKinnons an evangelistic effort has resulted in 26 churches being established in India.
Jim and Kitty worked with Philip and Thampi Abraham who were the local administrators of the work. Since those early years Lyju Cherian (Philip’s Son-in-law) has been added to the leadership team. Lyju is a seminary graduate who uses his Bible education to train the Pastors of NLCM.
The goal of NLCM is to reach areas of India that are “unreached” by the Gospel. Recently we have started a small work in the state of
Bihar (16 believers) and 6 village churches in the State of
Orissa.
We are making plans to start an English medium school to train Pastors at our Cochin,
Kerala (see map) headquarters. Since every state has its own language we will train potential leaders in English and then they will go back to their states and teach the Gospel in that state’s native language.
NLCM also has a tailoring school for poor women to learn a trade (see “tailoring school” tab)
